Studio Recitals
The Spring Studio Recital is typically held in the spring on the third Sunday of May. A smaller performance opportunity is held in December either in the form of a holiday party or a recital at a nursing home.
Sonata/Sonatina Celebration
Held in November, the Sonata/Sonatina is a competitive event available to students of NAMTA piano teachers. Students enter according to grade in school, and must play any two movements of a Sonatina or a fast movement of a Sonata by memory. Performances are open to the public, and students are judged and awarded points which accumulate over the years entered. The NAMTA Sonata/Sonatina is typically held on the second Saturday in November and the fee to participate is $15.
NAMTA Fall and Spring Recitals
Northwest Arkansas area recitals are sponsored by NAMTA and are held the week before the Sonata/Sonatina Celebration in the fall and the ASMTA Festival in the spring. A maximum of 8 students per teacher is allowed. There is no fee required.
ASMTA Region 1 Festival
The ASMTA Regional Festival is a competitve event for students held in April. Students select and play two pieces by memory from the ASMTA Syllabus, as well as take a written theory exam and musicianship test. Students are awarded ribbons and certificates and the winner of each level goes on to the state convention held in June. The fee to participate is $20.
National Guild of Piano Teachers Auditions
Guild Auditions are a non-competitive adjudicated event typically held in May. The primary function of the Guild is to establish goals and awards for piano students of all levels. Auditions are private and students are judged on individual merit. Students may play from 1 to 20 memorized pieces, along with scales and cadences in the key of each piece played.
